For those who have been keeping up with our blog posts, you know that we offer tons of insight to the student perspective while also sharing facts and personal experiences. Last summer we wrote over 20 Blogs and this year we plan to double that number. One of our most popular blogs tackled the SAT titled "3 Ways to prepare your child for the SAT" and you can access that here: https://tutorme.today/f/3-ways-to-prepare-your-child-for-the-sat. In addition, I am going to update this list since the next SAT date is March 4, 2023. I've revised the list and added a few extra points to ensure your child is well prepared for the SAT.

I. Practice

A huge part of acing the SAT is becoming familiar with the format. The Math portion has 2 sections one that requires and does not require a calculator. Becoming familiar with the type of problems given is essential and takes away the element of surprise when completing it, especially for the first time. Revising skills and formulas that you've learned in previous math classes is a huge bonus as it can reinforce what your child knows, but also helps prepare them for math problems they may not have encountered before as well. This also includes timing your students. We recommend spending no longer than 2 minutes on a problem since the SAT is timed.

II. Take a SAT Prep course

Lucky for you, we have you covered. Our SAT Prep Course covers; Algebra, Data & Statistics, Expressions/Inequalities, Advanced Geometry & Word Problems. This is an extensive 5 weeks course that covers all of the topics above. We are now accepting students for open enrollment! Feel free to sign up here; https://tutorme.today/schedule-an-appointment

Our course is designed to give hands-on experience and give our students practical knowledge and confidence to perform well, thus getting into their College of choice. As trained professionals, we all are familiar with it, and would like to prevent your child from taking it more than once unless they choose to do so for personal reasons. This comprehensive course is 5 weeks long and gives an in-depth overview of each math topic. Homework will also be assigned weekly for reinforcement and extra practice. For more details, visit our SAT section on our website and you will find all the information you need.

III. Rest

Most students taking the SAT take it during their Junior or Senior year in high school. The notion of applying to Colleges/Universities and graduating is already stressful enough and the SAT should not be something that adds additional stress to your child's life. We urge our students to prioritize their sleep and stay hydrated prior to the test date.

IV. Create Study Groups

One of the most effective methods of studying is in a group like structure. We recommend 4-5 people total and all of you plan to take the SAT on the same test date. This is a way of the old saying "iron sharpens iron" and it is an effective method to bounce ideas off each other and also fill in gaps of a student's memory that they may have forgotten.

V. Research

Before taking the SAT your child should research what schools require the exam, but also what score is acceptable. This will give your child a goal that they can set for themselves and the steps they need to accomplish it. You can find more about goal setting by clicking here; https://tutorme.today/f/3-reasons-you-should-invest-in-a-planner

We hope that you find these tips to be helpful, and if any of these provided some value to you. I hope that you sign up for the SAT Prep Course I am currently hosting in time for the SAT (March 9, 2023).
