Here at Tutor Me Today, we encourage and motivate our students to want more out of life. Question things that don't make sense, but always do more than what is required of you. I have had the privilege to take AP and IB courses in high school. However, kids today can take classes as early as middle school that can count towards high school and eventually University. Getting your child a head start in life will not only guarantee them success in their academia, but they'll have you to thank for it.
I. Increase of familiarity
The 1st year of College, most of the classes being taken are very similar to high school courses, but just a bit more in depth. When I was in high school, I took College Algebra and I aced it (Thank you Mr. Belfrom). Not only does taking these higher level classes challenge your child mentally, but it will prepare them for University level courses and give them an advantage. Not only will it exempt them from freshman courses, but it allows them to take advance courses as a 1st year student, thus increasing their graduation rate.
II. Save tuition money!
Now who doesn't enjoy saving money? I know, I do. Taking higher level classes in high school allow just that. Once your child take their AP/IB exams with a passing score, that can be used towards their College Credit. Which means once they start their 1st year in College, they can exempt certain courses and thus take more higher level courses. As mentioned in the previous paragraph, this can increase their graduation rate and also save you money! Allowing them to get out in the real world and get a job ASAP. They can also apply (and should be doing so anyways) for scholarships prior to College. With today's economy significantly impacted by inflation, it effects all of our lives. However, this can save you money in the long haul and prevent debt to your kids as well.
I hope that you found value with this blog post, I hope that you share this with your child and consider signing them up for higher level classes as soon as possible.
